You ARE magic, my friend. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, your descriptions of nature have me spellbound and yes, I was irritated too by the man and his flashlight (and no doubt his dog, too). Such human hubris to attempt to outshine moonlight. And I read your letter from love about the small things in its entirety over at Liz Gilbert's lovefest, and am so glad to read again this excerpt here, to remind me that I, too, am magic.
You SEE me!! You nailed it, Amy, and I'm laughing out loud because you totally get it: "the human hubris to outshine moonlight!" That's exactly it, sweet friend. You absolutely are MAGIC and I'm so glad you got the message twice. ;) xoxoxo
You have shared a cosmic truth so large as to be ungraspable and only known by the experiencing of the unfathomable power of small things. The moon, the dark, the walking away from dissonance…you know it now and it will never leave you. These words are coming out of me from the love of small things. I can’t say where the source is except you awakened it with your sharing, Jocelyn. A great big hug to you…
A sacred poem, and incantation. The love of small things speaks and I am so honored to hear the words. Thank you, thank you for sharing, Nancy. This feels so special and powerful to me. A great big hug right back to you. ✨
Squeeee. This made me so happy! Fellow moon maiden! Yes! I love that it's part of your daily ritual. If the moon is out and visible, I'm communing. Did you see the lunar eclipse last night? Not sure if it was in your part of the world. xo
I feel you, friend. One of the drawbacks of living where I am now is that I am constantly in the presence of civilization. Not necessarily a bad thing but I miss the availability of true solitude. Communing with the moon is such a delight, isn't it? Thank you for this, Jocelyn.
The availability of true solitude. I find it's really hard to get here in Austin. I have to drive an hour outside of town to get to a space where I don't hear road noise. In fact, I think I shall go there this weekend. Thanks for the reminder friend. I feel you.
And yes, the moon is one of my favorite things about being here on earth. 🙏
Wonderfully written, Jocelyn. I see the way you hold space for both—what interrupts and what nourishes. The moon, the quiet, the way time moves without asking permission. The way art carries something beyond itself. Sitting with the idea of being magic—I’ll take that with me.
Thank you for such a lovely close read - "hold space for both—what interrupts and what nourishes" I love how you put that. So eloquent. Take the magic with you and add it to the magic you already are! ❤️
Thank you for saying so! Especially since this piece wasn't quite as full of love or hope as mine usually are. And aren't those animals just something else?! I am enthralled with her work. And I mostly do! I try to make space most Sundays to be in the LFL space. I don't always get there, but it's wonderful when I do! Do you write them to yourself? ❤️
Squeeee! They are just the best. You can ask about a specific topic, or you can just ask what Love would have you know today and leave it open. The Letters from Love substack is just such a beautiful place if you feel like being in community with your letters. 🙏❤️

Thank you for always being so supportive my friend
You too, lovely, you too. 🙏❤️

I commune with the moon, too. Part of my morning ritual. Where I cast my attention, too.
Hello fellow moon maiden 🌖✨

The night grew overcast in my parts so I wasn't able to see it in its full glory! I was bummed.
But I still felt it! xoxoxo
Me too bummed because of clouds and I had strange dreams and woke up around 2:30 and was definitely feeling it.

Thank you so much for saying so! 🙏

Jocelyn, I am grateful my words resonated with you. xo
Love your writing Jocelyn! Thank you. Also those animals - amazing!!
PS - do you write yourself a letter from love every week?

No, I don't - I don't think I ever have but am inspired to now!

You certainly added some magic to my morning.
Awww, thank you, Amy!! That made me smile so big! :) xoxoxo
