Hello Jocelyn, Gorgeous poetry. I felt the ache and beauty of it in my chest—that quiet kind of love that doesn’t always get named between sisters: showing up to pour the drinks, witness the wonder, feel the art and the artist as part of you. The way you describe her voice—full of fear and wonder—that’s exactly what it is to create with your whole self.
And this line. I am already on my way.
It speaks not only to distance and return, but to the soul’s slow, stubborn journey back to itself.
Thank you. It feels like a benediction for all of us moving toward something and someone we love, even when it’s hard.
Oh what beautiful words, "A benediction for us all.." thank you thank you, Prajna, for your thoughtful close read and sharing how this felt for you, what resonated. I know you know how it feels to be seen in that way, to have the words you wrote and loved, words you wrote with love, echoed back as loved by another. That is it's own benediction. xoxo
Wow, what hopeful liminal space you're in right now! Loved the description of the cardinals' nest. Because our house was surrounded by trees we had all sorts of nests--hummingbirds, owls, hawks, ravens...birds are beyond words amazing. You had the best line: "Your house will be live in the listings tomorrow." What I heard was, "This is the doorway that will take you home."
Oh birds! They are just fantastic aren't they? You had such abundance in your trees. I remember the photos and they were gorgeous giants. Do you have trees or birds where you are right now? That makes all the difference to me. That and water 😉.
And thank you for noticing that line and calling it out! I'm working on equanimity and balancing anticipation with being in this waiting and not knowing space. It's challenging. ♥️
Hi Jocelyn, we live on a very lovely cul de sac in a lovely suburban neighborhood that’s more urban than sub so yes we have trees but not the wildlife like we used to have. We do have a pool and a hot tub so there is that. Equanimity, I’m convinced, is an art form.
There's nothing like living up against, or in, the foothills of CA. Northern or southern. I'm glad you have trees and a pool and a hot tub. Those things are certainly nice. Equanimity as art form. So much yes.
Beautiful Jocelyn! I love the connection of leaving the nest, letting go, flying away. And soon you'll arrive where your heart has been yearning for you to return. HOME. <3
Thank you!! I hoped that wasn't all too on the nose. :) Thank you for the lovely words and yes! returning home. How sweet that is. I think it wouldn't be quite so appreciated if I'd never left.
Already here in my heart dear friend - can't wait to feel the warmth of your hug, see the brightness of your smile and the tenderness of your voice - see you soon
Ohmygosh, this made me all teary in the best way. I love you so much and cannot wait to see that gorgeous smile and hear your big rich laugh and geek out over flowers and slugs and bugs and hike all over the place with you!
This just crackles with excitement- it shimmers, Jocelyn. I love the song and chorus and doorway of that For Sale sign. Truly, the particular is universal indeed, and this one has given me so much hope. ⭐️
"and this one has given me so much hope." that just makes my skin prickle and my insides all mushy and excited at the same time. I'm considering renaming my Substack and you just gave me an idea. Perhaps it's "Hope, Anyway."
And thank you thank you for the close read. I am always delighted to see you here. xoxoxo

Such a pleasure to read. I want to hear how it unfolds. I’m all in.
Oh that just made my heart skip. Thank you. 🙏❤️
Just beautiful, Jocelyn. You weave magic and love and wonder in every line you write. So excited for you to be living close to your sister again 💗
Oh this is so lovely and kind, Amy. Thank you! xoxo
