Hello Beautifuls,
I am humbled and thrilled by the community gathering here, at each new subscriber and each person who’s been with me along the way.
However you found your way here, know that I see your subscription come in and I say your name out loud, a little prayer of gratitude and seeing.
Thank you for being here. It means everything to me.
🌈Please ❤️ this post (and share or restack it) if you’re feeling it! I’d be grateful if you do.
I am on vacation this week. B is visiting me visiting California, and we were planning to head to Tahoe, so I could swim in the lake, but it’s snowing today up there, and while I love cold water, I like warm sun before and after. So. We have no plans. And I feel a little unmoored.
I looked up the etymology of vacation and this is part of what I found: “vacāre, which along with meaning ‘to be empty, be free, have leisure’ also means "to annul.”
How appropriate. Annulling one thing to make space for another. To be empty and free.
I am going to take that inspiration into my day today and see where it leads us.
For now, I offer you a photo essay of my time here in California so far.
I love this place so much my heart and body ache with longing, even when I am standing on her ground, immersed in her fog and sunshine, submerged in her waters.
I feel deeply lucky to be here.
May every one of you know this feeling of coming home.
xoxo

Love the photo essay - and god I love the sea lions!
Oh how I miss the bay and Tahoe the most beautiful place in the world. So happy that my daughters still live there so I get to visit a few times a year. Thanks for all the beautiful pictures and memories.
